David John Gagne, a machine learning scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), explains how he has developed a tool which uses machine learning to forecast severe weather. He is using artificial intelligence and computer modelling to better predict hailstorms. The tool has been developed to make better use of the vast amounts of data NCAR has.
