Tomorrow.io has been awarded a US$2.27m contract under NOAA NESDIS’s Commercial Weather Data Pilot(CWDP). This contract, part of NOAA’s initiative to assess the quality of commercial weather data, will enable the organization to evaluate the impact of Tomorrow.io’s Microwave Sounder data on numerical weather prediction models over the course of a one-year study.

“We are honored to collaborate with NOAA NESDIS in this pioneering effort to integrate commercial weather data into national forecasting systems,” said Rei Goffer, co-founder and chief strategy officer at Tomorrow.io. “This contract represents not only a significant validation of our technology but also an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of weather resilience on a global scale.”

Joe Barlett, Tomorrow.io’s SVP of business development – public sector North America, added, “Our long-standing collaboration with the US government has enabled us to understand and meet its unique needs. This contract with NESDIS further strengthens our commitment to helping NOAA achieve its mission goals.”
